Vol. 260 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Office Accommodation.

38.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of floor space, expressed in square feet, rented by the State and in respect of which the State pays an annual rental of £600,000.

In the interest of clarity and to obviate any possible misunderstanding, I must point out that the figure of £600,000 quoted in my reply to a question on March 14th was not represented as the amount of commercial rents payable annually; it was the amount of such rents actually paid in the year 1971. The total annual rental figure payable at present amounts to about £674,000, the square footage involved being approximately 940,000.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary be good enough to give me the average price per square foot?

I have not got that. I gather the Deputy can make a mathematical calculation himself.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary have the highest figure and the lowest figure from which I might make the average?

No. It is £674,000 for 940,000 square feet. I think I gave the averages in reply to the question on March 14th.
