Vol. 260 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Technical Assistance Grants.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether construction firms have been advised that, in the event of entry into the EEC, technical assistance grants will be incompatible with EEC regulations.

I am not aware of any general advice being given to construction firms on the lines suggested.

It is considered that the effects of the scheme of technical assistance grants, directed to the improvement of efficiency in the building industry, would not have any significant effects on trading conditions in the EEC. Accordingly, the scheme would not be incompatible with the EEC Common Market requirements and it is not proposed at this stage to discontinue it.
