Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Pollution Survey.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will comment on the findings of the survey carried out by An Foras Forbartha on the degree of pollution in Irish rivers; and what steps are being taken by his Department to deal with the significant degree of pollution in Irish rivers as indicated in this survey.

I would refer the Deputy to the comprehensive statement which I made on water pollution during the course of the Second Stage debate on the Waters Preservation Bill, 1972, columns 440 to 458 of the Official Report for the 18th April, 1972, in which I commented on the findings of this survey and outlined the steps I am taking to deal with the water pollution problem.
