Vol. 260 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Griffith Barracks Accommodation.

2.

asked the Minister for Health the number of persons accommodated at Griffith Barracks as at the latest available date.

I understand from the Eastern Health Board that the total number of persons living at Griffith Barracks on 9th May, 1972, was 32.

Would the Minister be able to tell the House how many of these cases are in fact purely housing problems and not health problems at all? Is there any intention on the part of the Minister to try to transfer this responsibility to the Minister for Local Government, whose responsibility it rightly is, because it is not really a health matter at all?

I have not taken any action in regard to this. I would say that most of the persons living in Griffith Barracks are there because of a housing problem.
