Vol. 261 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Charges.

11.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if, in view of the regular recent increases in electricity charges and the prospect of further increases, he will ensure that the bringing of rural electrification to those areas which have not yet been serviced will be undertaken immediately.

As the increases in charges must be fully justified by increases in operating costs, implementation of these increases cannot make additional capital available for new connections to the supply.

Furthermore, it is physically impossible to connect at once all those who are now seeking supply.
