Vol. 261 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers - County Dublin Hospital.

10.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of public concern in the areas of South Dublin. Dún Laoghaire, County Wicklow and North Wexford about the proposed closure of the maternity unit at Saint Colmcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, County Dublin, and the proposed reorganisation of the ambulance services at this hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a question by Deputy O'Higgins on the 30th May, 1972, regarding the maternity unit at Loughlinstown Hospital. I made it quite clear in reply to supplementary questions that there was no question of the closure of the unit. That is still the position.

As regards the ambulance services at the hospital, I understand that while the Eastern Health Board keep their ambulance services under continuing review there is at present no specific proposal to change the arrangements for the service based on Loughlinstown.
