asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of the past five years the amounts paid to voluntary hospitals from public funds for building improvements and the provision of equipment.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

The following is the statement:

Capital payments from the Hospitals Trust Fund to voluntary hospitals (including institutions for the mentally handicapped, etc.), in each of the past five years towards the cost of construction and improvement works and the provision of equipment were as follows:—
