Vol. 261 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway School.

17.

asked the Minister for Education if it is intended to proceed with the proposal to close Carrowkeel national school, County Galway and to transfer the pupils to Dunmore school.

As the extension at Dunmore NS is now almost completed, it is intended to close Carrowkeel school and go ahead with the amalgamation as originally planned.

When was the decision taken to close that school?

It was taken following a meeting which the senior inspector of the Department had with the parents in 1968.

When was it communicated to the manager?

The manager has been well aware of it from that time.

The decision to close the school was taken after a meeting with the parents of the children. When was that decision communicated to the manager of the school?

That is a separate question.

I do not seem to have that information here. That seems to be a separate question.
