asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the frustration felt in Tipperary town by the undue delay in creating the advance factory for that area; and if he will take all necessary steps to expedite the matter.

I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that negotiations for the acquisition of a site for the advance factory have recently been finalised. The IDA hope that work on the erection of the factory will commence within the next three months.

When was the decision taken, when was the go-ahead given and what was the cause of the delay? How many is it hoped to employ in the factory?

I understand the negotiations were completed only within the last few days.
