Vol. 261 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Fire Station.

106.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the provision of a fire station at the North Strand-East Wall area, Dublin.

I have not received any proposal from Dublin Corporation for the provision of a fire station at the area mentioned by the Deputy.

Is the Minister aware that his predecessor, Mr. Kevin Boland, about three years ago, informed me that plans were being prepared? The Minister now says there are no plans or no proposals in Dublin Corporation.

No. I said that no proposal had been received. I understand they are preparing a proposal but I have not yet received one in the Department.

Yet, about three years ago the then Minister said plans were about to be prepared.

I have no information on what happened three years ago. The Deputy did not ask me about that. All I can tell him is that there is no proposal before my Department at the present time from Dublin Corporation. They have indicated that they are preparing a proposal that will be coming to the Department whenever they are ready.

They must be three years preparing it.

I am not aware of the three years. I was only informed of this on the 9th June.
