Vol. 262 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Milk Transport.

43.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that producers supplying the Ardfert, County Kerry group of Dairy Disposal Company creameries are losing 2½p per gallon on milk due to the failure of the company to supply suitable transport to convey the milk to the new factory at Listowel; and if he will arrange with the company to provide the necessary transport.

44.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that the milk suppliers to the Dairy Disposal Company creameries group, Dingle, County Kerry as losing 2½p per gallon due to the failure of the company to supply suitable transport to convey the milk to the new factory at Listowel; and if he will arrange with the company to provide the necessary transport.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 43 and 44 together.

The position is as follows: delay by the manufacturers in delivering tankers and equipment to the company's Ardfert creamery has now been largely overcome and by next week most of the skim milk from Ardfert will be going for processing to the Listowel factory. The Listowel factory was intended to cater for the north Kerry area and separate arrangements are in train for the Dingle area.
