The most recent published assessment of housing needs is that contained in the White Paper "Housing in the Seventies" which was issued in June, 1969. This assessment has since been kept under continuous review in my Department in the light of demographic and other trends. The level of output projected for the mid-1970s in the White Paper has already been reached and it is my policy to see that an upward trend in the output of new houses is maintained, pending the next detailed needs assessment which will take place in the coming year.
