asked the Taoiseach if he will indicate for the most recent year (a) the total active female population (b) the number of married women in this population and (c) the percentage of married women in the total active female population.

The latest available information is that derived from the 1966 Census of Population. At that time the total number of gainfully occupied females in the State was 289,144. Of this number 25,834 were married, representing 8.9 per cent of the total.
