Vol. 263 No. 8

Written Answers. - Local Fire Brigades.

350.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present rates of pay and allowances for each local fire brigade member, giving the date of the last change in pay or allowances.

It is assumed that the Deputy's question relates to retained part-time fire brigade personnel who are paid annual retaining fees and hourly rates for attendance at fires and drills. The general principle under which these men are paid, as set out in circular letters issued by my Department, relates their pay directly to the local trade union rate for fitters. Rates of pay may therefore differ from one local authority to another. Since my sanction to changes within authorised limits is not required the information requested by the Deputy is not available in the records of my Department.
