Strength figures for the Defence Forces are compiled for the last day of each month. The strength of the Permanent Defence Force was 9,050 on 31st December, 1971, and 10,478 on 31st October, 1972.
Can the Minister say if recruiting is still proceeding satisfactorily?
It is still proceeding and we hope to step up the recruiting programme in the very near future.
