Vol. 263 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Administration of VAT.

20.

asked the Minister for Finance the progress made in the recruitment and training of the additional civil servants needed to administer the value-added tax.

The staff engaged on value-added tax in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners are mainly those who, up to November 1st, 1972, were employed on work relating to turnover tax and wholesale tax. The recruitment of additional staff, as required, for value-added tax and the training of the new staff are proceeding satisfactorily.

Would the Minister be in a position to state the number of staff that were employed on wholesale and turnover tax?

No, I am afraid I have not that information.

No, I have not that here.

If I ask a question will the Minister let me know?

I will look into that.
