asked the Minister for Finance (a) the total area of office accommodation in the city of Dublin owned by the Government and occupied (i) by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs and (ii) by other Departments; (b) the total area rented by the Government in each of the years 1960 to 1972 inclusive which is currently (i) rented and (ii) owned by the Government; (c) the number of staff accommodated in buildings owned by the Government distinguishing the Department of Posts and Telegraphs from the rest of the Government service and (d) the area of office accommodation in the city of Dublin to be rented by the Government in each of the years 1973, 1974 and 1975 (i) for which leases have been signed and (ii) in respect of which decisions have been taken to sign leases.

Following is the information requested:

(a) Area of office accommodation in the city of Dublin owned by the Government and

(i) occupied by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs

133,000 sq.ft.

(ii) occupied by other Departments

913,000 sq.ft.

1,046,000 sq.ft.

(b) Area rented by the Government in Dublin in each of the years 1960 to 1972 inclusive which is (i) currently rented and (ii) currently owned.
