Vol. 265 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Financing of Dublin Hospitals.

33.

asked the Minister for Health the present position regarding the financing of the James Connolly Memorial Hospital and Saint James's Hospital, Dublin.

Expenditure, other than capital expenditure, incurred by the hospital authorities is met mainly by health boards, i.e. in respect of Health Act patients referred, or deemed to have been referred, by them, and to a limited extent by patients, i.e. those not eligible for Health Act services who themselves pay the full cost and those who, thought eligible, opt for private or semi-private accommodation in which case the cost is shared between the health board and the patient.
