asked the Minister for Social Welfare (a) the cost to the Exchequer if non-contributory old age pensions were awarded at 65 years and (b) the number of extra people who would benefit from this change.

(a) The estimated cost, at present rates for a full year, is of the order of £14 millions; (b) about 57,000.
