Vol. 265 No. 12

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boyne Fisheries Conservation.

32.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will outline his plans to conserve the fisheries on the River Boyne.

The conservation of the fisheries of the River Boyne is effected chiefly by the enforcement of the provisions of the fishery statutes by the local board of fishery conservators.

Also the provisions of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, apply in the case of this river and my Department have agreed with the Commissioners of Public Works on the measures required to offset the drainage works there.

I have no special plans otherwise for the conservation of the fisheries of the River Boyne.
