Vol. 266 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Intermediate Certificate Candidates.

40.

asked the Minister for Education if he will meet the wishes of South Tipperary Vocational Education Committee by allowing intermediate certificate candidates to sit for the examination in their own school.

Mr. R. Burke

Candidates at the certificate examinations conducted by my Department are assigned to examination centres in their own school wherever it is feasible and reasonable to do so.

It would appear that the Deputy's question refers to the Vocational School in Carrick-on-Suir where there are not sufficient numbers to justify the recognition of a centre. In this case, in accordance with standard practice, the pupils were assigned to the nearest centres which were in the local secondary schools.
