asked the Minister for Education if he proposes to implement changes suggested in the OECD Report regarding (1) an extension of the period of education for all, (2) a change in the structure of authority, (3) a new distribution of knowledge, and (4) an open rather than a school system of education.

Mr. R. Burke
The OECD publication to which the Deputy refers did not specifically suggest changes but stated that there is evidence to show that the most likely direction of changes in education in the immediate future will be (a) towards a longer education for all; (b) a changed structure of authority; (c) a new distribution of knowledge; (d) an open rather than a school system of education. As for my implementing changes, I can assure the Deputy that everything that I can do to extend the range and improve the quality of the education available to our people will be done.
