Vol. 266 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Security Measures.

40.

asked the Minister for Defence the extent to which the consigning of over 1,000 regular Army troops to the Northern Ireland border areas will reduce security within the Twenty-six Counties; and if it will bring about any change in the role of the FCA in regard to security activities.

The constitution of the two new battalions in the Border area will not reduce security elsewhere in the State. The answer to the second part of the question is "No".
