Vol. 266 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonmel Telephone Exchange Staffs.

118.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the provision contemplated for the continuity of employment of the night staffs at present employed at the Clonmd telephone exchange. County Tipperary, after its conversion to automatic working.

The staffs in question are employed on a temporary basis and most of them work only a limited number of hours in the week. The phasing out of the staff on conversion of the exchange to automatic working will be a gradual process extending over five to six years. In the meantime displaced staff will be considered for any other temporary work that may arise at the office or in the area.
