Vol. 266 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Therapy.

15.

asked the Minister for Health if he is undertaking any studies regarding industrial therapy, mental health and psychiatric problems among Irish workers.

There are no specific studies on industrial therapy although industrial therapy is practised in most psychiatric hospitals. There are a number of studies on mental health problems. These include studies of the in-patient population in mental hospitals, and of persons attending for out-patient services. I recently sanctioned a proposal for a study of mental illness in the community with particular reference to schizophrenia.
