Vol. 266 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Re-organisation.

98.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Government have any plans for the co-ordination of national finance organisations with the European Investment Bank to supply funds for industrial re-organisation.

Mr. Kenny

The European Investment Bank is a public independent institution within the European Community and operates on commercial lines. Contacts have already been established between the Bank and industrial development interests here including finance organisations.

Will funds be available for organisations and industries that still badly need them because they did not take the warnings that were given to them some years ago? Will the IDA involve themselves in discussions with those people?

Mr. Kenny

This European Investment Bank, as I say, is run on commercial lines and they probably will give loans to solvent associations but whether the IDA will deal with them is a matter for the IDA themselves.
