asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the urgent demand for primary and post-primary educational facilities in the south-county area of Dublin; the plans in his Department for the provision of such facilities; the location of proposed schools; and when he expects that the school facilities will become available.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South County Dublin Educational Facilities.
My Department, working in close consultation with the planning offices of Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council, keeps under constant review the educational needs of the developing areas of Dublin city and county. The present position in regard to the provision of primary schools in south county Dublin is set out in a statement, which with your permission a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report.
It is proposed to cater for the immediate post-primary needs of this area by the provision of schools in Ballinteer, Cabinteely, Ballyroan and Lucan districts. In the longer term, schools will be provided in the Balally/Sandyford and the Holylands, Rathfarnham, areas, as well as additional schools in the Tallaght area, when the population growth in these areas warrants such provision.
