I presume the Deputy is referring in his question to the national agreements negotiated by the Employer/Labour Conference in December, 1970, and July, 1972. The parties to the conference have subscribed in the 1972 Agreement to the objective of giving preferential treatment to wage earners in lower-income groups. National agreements have benefited all workers but I believe that the objective of improving the state of the lower-paid worker is being advanced in particular.
