Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Industries.

50.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the efforts that have been and are being made to locate a substantial male employment-giving industry in Buncrana, County Donegal where there is great need for such an industry.

The Industrial Development Authority are prepared to offer special incentives within the maximum statutory limits to suitable new industry establishing in Buncrana.

The need for male employing industry in Buncrana is recognised, and the IDA when formulating their regional industrial plans set a target of 450 new jobs in manufacturing for the town grouping Buncrana, Carndonagh and Moville.

The IDA have informed Donegal County Council of their interest in acquiring ten acres of land for industrial development in Buncrana and the authority will continue their efforts to attract industrialists to the area.

51.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the efforts made to secure an industry for the advance IDA factory in Carndonagh, County Donegal.

The Industrial Development Authority are making every effort to interest industrialists in the advantages of locating in Donegal particularly in the advance factories being provided at four locations in the county. I am informed, however, that they have not yet succeeded in attracting a project for the new advance factory at Carndonagh, which was taken over by IDA on 6th July.

52.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether an industry has yet been found for the advance IDA factory at Letterkenny, County Donegal.

I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that arrangements have been made to lease the advance factory in Letterkenny to Courtaulds Ltd., for a period of two years for the purpose of training workers for the company's new manufacturing plant to be established in Letterkenny.
