Vol. 267 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois-Offaly Industries.

53.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of inquiries received in the past 12 months from industrialists who were thinking of setting up industries in Portarlington, County Laois and Edenderry, County Offaly.

I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that three inquiries were received in the past 12 months in respect of Portarlington; no inquiries were received for Edenderry in that period.

54.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the IDA have purchased land in Edenderry, County Offaly; and, if so, if they intend to erect a factory on it.

The Industrial Development Authority have made arrangements for the purchase of three acres of land for industrial development in Edenderry. The site will be available for any project which may be approved by the IDA in the course of implementing the midlands regional industrial plan.

No decision has been taken to erect a factory on the site.
