Vol. 267 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Materials.

110.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the development of a brick from recycled glass and mine residue and subflooring and sheeting from old newspapers, he will arrange for experiments on the feasibility of their use in the construction of houses.

Research on any new products intended for use in the construction industry would be a matter in the first instance for the industry, assisted where appropriate by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards. I have no information about any development in the use of the type of materials mentioned by the Deputy which would justify special action by me.
