The preparation of plans is a matter for Cork County Council. The council's proposal to adopt a new alignment for various sections of the road, including a 12½ mile section between Cork city and Mourneabbey, was approved by my Department on 10th August, 1972. I cannot say when construction work will commence. Outline plans for the scheme have not yet been submitted.
