Vol. 267 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Taxi Ranks.

62.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in regard to taxi ranks and whether private cars are prohibited from parking therein.

Where taxi ranks have been designated as appointed stands for street service vehicles by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána under the Road Traffic Act, 1961, it is an offence for a driver to park a vehicle, other than a street service vehicle, so that it is wholly or partly at such a stand.

Can a motorist have his car towed away for parking at a taxi rank?

No, but I heard the Deputy had his car towed away about six months ago.
