Vol. 267 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Amenity Beaches.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider making all amenity beaches or beaches used to a large extent by tourists as amenity areas; and if he will consider declaring sandy shores on Irish lakes as amenity areas and thereby prevent persons taking sand from these areas to the detriment of the amenity and of the tourist business.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to the making of special amenity area orders under section 42 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963. This would be a matter for each planning authority concerned.
