Vol. 267 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bourn Vincent Memorial Park.

111.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will introduce aerial tramways in the Bourn Vincent Memorial Park.

Mr. Kenny

It is not proposed to provide or permit aerial tramways in the Bourn Vincent Memorial Park.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that certain engineers and architects were consulted during the previous administration regarding the construction of an aerial tramway to parts of that area not accessible to the public without interfering with the aesthetic beauty of the Muckross House area.

That is a very long question.

At that time private enterprise was not prepared to accept it, but there are thousands of acres which could be made available to the public.

The Deputy is making a statement. I shall have to pass on to the next question.

Mr. Kenny

May I answer that supplementary?

The Chair cannot permit statements to be answered.

I probably wrote it myself.

Mr. Kenny

The Deputy should ask the former Minister for Local Government who refused planning permission for this assignment.

The Chair has called the next question.

The former Minister for Local Government may have rejected it, but an alternative proposal was put forward which I approved when I was Parliamentary Secretary.

Will the Deputy please allow Question Time to continue?

Apparently the Parliamentary Secretary is not interested in aesthetic values.

Mr. Kenny

Not in aerial tramways.

What about the sidecars?
