Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - Technical College Lectureships.

151.

asked the Minister for Education how appointments are made to lectureships in regional technical colleges; the degrees or qualifications necessary; and if the Diploma in Higher Education or Ceardteastas is an essential qualification for such appointments.

Appointments to lectureships in regional technical colleges are made on the basis of publicly advertised competitions and of a selection board procedure prescribed by my Department. The qualifications required in each instance are related to the nature of the post and are prescribed in Memorandum V.7 issued by my Department; in general, an honours primary degree and a minimum of three years suitable professional experience are required. A Diploma in Higher Education or the Ceardteastas Gaeilge are not essential qualifications.
