Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - Mayo Medical Appointment.

189.

asked the Minister for Health if he has sanctioned the appointment of a doctor to Ballina Hospital, County Mayo; and, if so, the salary for the post.

I presume the Deputy has in mind the post of permanent medical Officer to Ballina Hospital. An appointment of this kind is made by the chief executive officer of the Health board on the recommendation of the Local Appointments Commission and my sanction is not necessary. I am informed that the Local Appointments Commission have been requested by the health board to hold a competition for the filling of the Ballina permanent post. The post is part-time and the salary for it is £2,809 per annum.
