I have no proposal for the appointment of a second radiologist for the County Hospital, Castlebar.
I am informed that proposals for improving the radiology services in their area have been submitted by the Western Health Board to Comhairle na nOspidéal, the statutory body set up under the Health Act, 1970 to regulate the number and type of appointments of consultant medical staffs in hospitals providing services under the Act. These proposals, which are under active consideration by the comhairle, involve the creation of a second post of radiologist to serve in County Mayo.
I shall give immediate consideration to any proposals which may be made to me following the examination now being carried out by the Comhairle.
