Vol. 267 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Lands.

10.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will list the estates in the hands of the Land Commission in County Mayo and indicate the lands that are being divided this year.

At present the Land Commission have in their possession in County Mayo over 17,500 acres of which about 6,100 acres are classified as arable. Land Commission operations in this particular county are heavily concentrated and the area on hands comprises, inter alia, numerous small holdings and remnants of larger estates. In these circumstances, the Deputy will appreciate that the extraction of the detailed information requested would entail a disproportionate expenditure of time and labour which would not be warranted. If, however, there are any special districts in which the Deputy is interested I can arrange to have the particulars he requires sent to him.
