Building societies advanced £43,214,000 in house purchase loans and approved 12,335 loans for this purpose during the financial year ended 31st March, 1973. Corresponding information for the first three months of the current financial year is not yet available but will be published in the next edition of the Quarterly Bulletin of Housing Statistics. I will arrange to have a copy of the bulletin forwarded to the Deputy in due course.
Details of numbers of loan applications received or refused by building societies are not submitted to my Department.
