asked the Minister for Local Government the total amount borrowed from the three local authorities in the Dublin area for house purchase during the financial year ended 31st March 1973 and during the first three months of the present financial year; the number of loan applications received by each Local authority during the same periods; and the number of applications granted and the number refused.

During the year ended on the 31st March, 1973, the three local authorities in the Dublin area, Dublin County Council, Dublin Corporation and Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation, advanced a total of £2,708,324 in house purchase loans. In the same period, the authorities received 1,317 and approved 1,095 loan applications.
In the first three months of the current financial year, the three authorities advanced a total of £869,643 in loans and received 585 and approved 417 applications. Information on the number of applications refused is not available in my Department.
