Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - Estate Duty Assessment Delay.

268.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the delay in the assessment of estate duty; and the action he intends taking in the matter.

I am aware that, due to the shortage of staff, the Estate Duty Office have been under pressure in recent times in making assessments for estate duty purposes. I am happy to inform the Deputy that following the recent recruitment of additional staff the position is expected to improve in the near future. If the Deputy will bring to my attention any particular cases he may have in mind where undue delays have occurred I shall have them investigated.
