Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - European Parliament Support Services.

276.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is satisfied that the support services in terms of staff and information for Irish delegates to the European Parliament are adequate by European standards.

I consider there is need for improvement in the services to which the Deputy refers.

The question of the provision of support services for Irish delegates to the European Parliament can best be dealt with in association with the action required to give effect to the proposal for the Joint Committee on the Secondary Legislation of the European Communities. The necessary motion has been passed by the Dáil and, I understand, will be taken in the Seanad tomorrow. On the completion of these procedures the necessary implementing arrangements can be settled.
