Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - Mayo Copper Mine.

113.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any company has applied for a licence to reopen the copper mines at Bollingluime, Currane, County Mayo.

The Deputy's question seems to refer to an old copper mine mapped as Bolinglanna, east of Corraun, County Mayo.

This old mine is included in Area No. 1511, County Mayo, granted under prospecting licence to Hibernian International Development Corporation Ltd. Particulars of this licence are shown in the report under the Minerals Development Acts laid before the House on 6th March, 1973.

It is not possible at this stage to state whether the current prospecting will result in reopening of the copper mine at Bolinglanna.
