Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - Trading Cheques.

124.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the present system of trading cheques has been investigated by his Department; if so, if he is satisfied that consumer interest in this matter is fully safeguarded and that the interest rates are reasonable under present legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The National Prices Commission are having a study carried out of the comparative cost of credit, including trading cheques. When the results of this study are available, I will then decide whether I should take any action in the matter.
