Vol. 268 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health and Social Services.

7.

asked the Minister for Health the cost to the State of putting the health and social services in the Twenty-Six Counties on a par with those in Northern Ireland.

As the question is addressed to me as Minister for Health, I assume the Deputy is referring to the effect of bringing eligibility for the health and ancillary welfare services for which the Department of Health are responsible into line with what applies in Northern Ireland. If eligibility for these services here were to be extended in this way, the additional cost to the State would probably be of the order of £30 million a year.
