Vol. 268 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Legislation.

29.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he has any plans to amend tourist legislation so as to afford greater protection to the potential tourist; and if there is a possibility of EEC agreement on this matter.

I am satisfied—and so is Bord Fáilte—that amendment of the Tourist Traffic Acts in so far as they relate to protection of tourists is not necessary at this juncture but it is a matter which is kept under review.

EEC enactments in the tourism sphere relate so far to freedom of establishment and I am not aware of any proposal which specifically aims at the protection of the tourist.
