Vol. 268 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Value-Added Tax.

44.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of revenue accruing from VAT for the first half of the current financial year.

The net receipt from value-added tax in the six months ended on September 30th, 1973, was £66,053,754.

Would the Minister indicate how that figure compares with the projected receipts on which he operated in calculating the budget figures?

Receipts from wholesale and turnover taxes in the corresponding period last year were £47.6 million.

That is not what I had in mind. The Minister in his calculations in preparing the budget projected certain receipts from VAT. Can he tell us how the figure he has quoted for the first half year compares with the estimate on which he worked?

I should require notice of that question.
