Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flora and Fauna Legislation.

165.

asked the Minister for Lands the amount of money the State provides towards the conservation of flora and fauna; and if there is any likelihood that the sum may be increased soon.

(Cavan): The Vote for Forestry includes a grant-in-aid, subhead H, which is used, subject to the consent of the Minister for Finance, to meet the cost of conservation projects approved of or undertaken by my Department or any other Department. The current year's provision is £100,000. Moreover, under subhead G of the same Vote, funds are made available for game development and management: the total amount being provided for the purpose this year is £107,000. I cannot anticipate what the future provision under either subhead will be.
