Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Timber Sales.

173.

asked the Minister for lands the value of materials sold from State forests in 1969-70 and 1972-73; and the projected sales for 1979-80.

(Cavan): The value of materials sold from State forests in 1969-70 amounted to £799,000. The corresponding figure for 1972-73 was £1,350,000 and projected income for 1979-80, in terms of prices obtaining prior to 31-3-1973, would exceed £2 million. As, however, world timber prices are at present increasing relative to the prices of other commodities it is expected that the income in real terms, will be substantially in excess of that figure.
